Carl L. Williams, 83, passed away at his residence due to natural causes on Monday, December 21, 2020. Cremation has taken place, and due to the pandemic, private family funeral services will be held before Carl is laid to rest next to his late wife Alice. Carl's family has suggested memorial donations be made in his memory to the Gildford Community Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Carl was born on September 7, 1937, in Havre, to Coleman and Sarah (Brumbaugh) Williams. He was raised outside of Kremlin, graduating from Kremlin High School in 1955. He moved to Edmonds, WA, to work for a time, and returned to Kremlin in 1976. Carl married Alice Messmore in Coeur d'Alene on July 27, 1982, and the couple lived in Kremlin until Alice's death in 2002. For the majority of his adult life, Carl worked for Burlington Northern Railroad.
In high school, he enjoyed playing basketball, and after, he enjoyed bowling, woodworking, Pinochle, and watching basketball. For many years, Carl has been a member of the Gildford Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; parents, Coleman and Sarah Williams; brothers, Emery and John Williams; and sons, Steve and Keith Messmore.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Laureen Megofna of Cypress, CA, Dawn (Joe) Lippert of Cordyon, IN, and Elaine Messmore of Edgewood, WA; son, Paul Messmore, of Victoria, TX; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren; sisters, Mildred (Vic) Woeppel of Lynnwood, WA, and Bessie (Mike) Doll of Sandy, UT; brother, Lyle (Dorothy) Williams of Kremlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
