Calvin "Jesse" Stump, "Playing with Many Horses" and "Chief Child", 64, passed away due to natural causes at his childhood home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.  Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021, all at the Videl and Ruby Stump, Sr. residence.  Burial will follow in the Stump Family Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jesse was born on September 10, 1957, in Fort Belknap to Videl and Ruby Stump.  He was raised in Rocky Boy, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1975.  Jesse then went on to attend college at SiPi in Santa Fe, NM.  After his college years, he returned home to Rocky Boy, where he worked for a while and married Claudine Kills Night, and the couple had a daughter before later divorcing.  He had a relationship with Dorothy St. Marks, and together they had a son.  Jesse moved to Fort Hall, Idaho, and he worked in Pocatello as a crane operator at FMC Manufacturing.  There, he met Roanna Buckskin, the love of his life, and they married.  Together they had a daughter, whom they raised in Fort Hall.  He remained in Fort Hall for 37 years until just before his passing, when he returned home to Rocky Boy, having lost his wife and daughters within the past several years.

Jesse enjoyed stick games, Rounddances, Sundances, and Pow Wows.  He traveled with his uncle, Russell "Scotty Buffalo" Standing Rock, to play basketball in tournaments.  He was an active member of the Native American Church and the traditional ceremonies.  Jesse was proud of his lineage, coming from Chiefs Big Bear, Little Bear, and Fine Bow.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roanna Buckskin Stump; daughters, Julia Michelle Stump and Jessica Mae Stump; loving parents, Videl and Ruby Stump, Sr.; brother, Tyson Stump; sister, Cheryl Lee Stump; grandparents, Charles and Edith Writing Bird, Patrick Stump, and Florence Denny Standing Rock; aunts and uncles, Calvin, Margaret, Caroline, Amy, Wilberta "Babe", and Kenny Writing Bird.

Jesse is survived by his son, Calvin Jesse Stump, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN;  five grandchildren; siblings, Victor "Carlos" Nomee of Lodge Grass, Vidella Stump of Billings, Videl Stump, Jr., Dawn Stump, and Florencine "Dixie" Stump, all of Rocky Boy, Marva (Darrin Sunchild) Stump of Havre, Marlo Stump and Rueben Stump, both of Rocky Boy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends, including his special niece, Cimarron Four Souls.
