Obituary

Bonnie (Denny) KnowsHisGun, 81, passed away due to natural causes at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.  Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, and will continue until her funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Bonnie was born to George and Florence (Corcoran) Denny on July 16, 1941 in Harlem, Montana. She married her first love Hector Knowshisgun, Jr. while she was attending Busby boarding school back in the 60's.  Over the years, their union welcomed six beautiful children, Marvena Mary
Knowshisgun, Marina Mitchell, Gregory Lorne Knowshisgun, Zina Knowshisgun, Lowell Vincent Knowshisgun, & her youngest Gaylene Knowshisgun- Page. She married Lawrence Granbois in Rocky Boy. They later divorced.  She raised and welcomed so many nephews, nieces, & grandchildren into her home during her amazing journey on earth. She raised her beautiful granddaughter Xena Jewel Littlenest, and was very close to Lorne Knowshisgun. She had a strong hand in helping raise Jayarr Knowshisgun, Salah Aneaus, Robert Lewis Corcoran, and kept Janelle Knowshisgun a lot while Janelle's mother was actively serving in the Army. They were very dear to their Granny's heart.

Bonnie's willful nature helped her earn a Bachelor of Science in Education June 6, 1980, from Eastern Montana College. Majoring in Elementary Education and Special Ed. She worked hard to gain her Masters Degree in the same disciplines through the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, 1991. Mom spent many wonderful years teaching, being Principal and Superintendent within the elementary and high school level for children
who attended Lame Deer Public School, Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools. She was a fluent Cree speaker and served as the Rocky Boy School District Bilingual Education Program Director/Teacher. One of her many phrases was "Education is important, it will
take you where you need to be in life". She was the oldest great granddaughter of Chief Kennewash.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Hector Jr.; her mother & father, George & Florence Denny; brothers George "Buster" Denny, Vance Denny, and Walter "Moose" Denny, sisters Liz McGee and Katherine Moreno, Salah Aneaus and both of her sons, Lowell and Gregory Knowshisgun.

She is survived by Marvena Mary Knowshisgun of Peoria, Arizona, Marina (Charles) Mitchell of Busby MT., Zina Knowshisgun, Billings, MT. & Gaylene (Douglas Page) Knowshisgun-Page of Tucson, Arizona, Granddaughter Xena Jewel Littlenest, Lorne Knowshisgun, Jayarr Knowshisgun, Robert Lewis Corcoran, Janelle Knowshisgun, sister Gayle Denny, brother Vince Denny both of Rocky Boy. She also leaves behind many
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and many lifelong friends.
