Obituary

Betty L. Strissel, 93, passed away at the Northern Montana Care Center on Sunday, July 31, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Rudyard Lutheran Church with Pastor Cheryl Muncy.  Burial will follow in the Rudyard Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Betty was born on September 23, 1928, in Havre, to Selmer and Margaret (O'Bosky) Sanvik.  Her first home was in Hogeland, and when she was two years old, her family relocated to Rudyard.  There, Betty attended school and graduated from Rudyard High School in 1946.  She attended Northern Montana College, obtaining her teaching certificate, and soon began teaching in Nashua.  Betty taught at Nashua until she married William Strissel, and returned to Rudyard with him.  Living in Rudyard, Betty worked for Sanvik Brothers as a bookkeeper and cared for her home and family.  She retired in the 80s, and William passed away in 1982.

Betty enjoyed yardwork and ceramics.  She loved to quilt and cook, and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Strissel; granddaughter, Dionne Strissel; and parents, Selmer and Margaret Sanvik.

Betty is survived by her children, Lowell (Denise) Strissel of Hingham and Karla (Steve) Van Treese of Monta Vista, CO; four grandchildren, Davilyn (Chad) McCormick, Natalie (Dakoda) Simmes, Kole Van Treese, and Kelci (Bryce) Martinez; four great-grandchildren, Quincy, Ethan, and Eli McCormick, and Ridge Simmes; and many friends.
