Berta Dean Watson Owens , 81, of Havre, died June 8, 2019 due to natural causes. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Immanuel Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.; burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorials in Berta's name may be made to the Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club or the charity of the donor's choice. Berta was born May 24, 1938 in Coleman, TX to Burt and Valdeene Watson. In 1956 Berta married Damon Owens in Pecos, TX and from this marriage they were blessed with 5 children. The early years of her marriage the family life was very nomadic, moving to where work was available all over the western U.S. In 1972 the family made the move to Havre with the oil boom and settled in.

She loved watching her children play sports, all of them very good athletes in their own way. Later she watched them marry and have children and would watch their children in sports. Berta worked at several jobs but the one she loved the most was staying home and tending to her family.

Berta was preceded in death by her husband, Damon Owens; parents, Thomas and Valdeene Watson; daughter Julie Ann Owens; and sister, Gay McCoy.

Berta is survived by her children, Randy (Mary) Owens, Kemi (Mark) Velk, Burt "Skip" Owens, Damon (Christy) Owens Jr. and Darla Owens all of Havre; sister, Norma (Lonnie) Cleveland; brother, Jimmy (Lana) Watson; 12 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; and her beloved Molly and Bubba.
