Obituary

Bert Coffee, Jr., 64, passed away due to natural causes at his residence on Saturday, August 31, 2024.  Wake services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, all at Parker School.  Burial will follow in the Coffee Family Cemetery.  Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Bert was born on December 7, 1959, in Fort Belknap to Bert and Dorothy (Stump) Coffee, Sr.  He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending school there through 8th grade.  Soon after, he began working as a ranch hand, a profession he loved and performed for the next 20 years.  After ranching, Bert started his own contracting service, and worked for Chippewa Cree Tribal Housing for several years.

Bert was a blunt, social, outspoken man who enjoyed beading, riding horses, attending Pow Wows (where he also sang), and rodeoing, where he rode broncs and bulls.  For the past several years, he has cared for his grandchildren during the day, and they were the apple of his eye, able to do whatever they wanted.  He was a jack of all trades and possessed the ability to do something a couple of times before becoming proficient at it.  Most of his skills were self-taught.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Dawn and Alisha Coffee; grandson, Jerod Reed Coffee; parents, Bert and Dorothy Coffee, Sr.; sisters, Arlene Arkinson and Elvina "Roach" Stump; brother, Allen "Pie" Nault; and best friend, John ChiefStick, Jr..

Bert is survived by his daughters, Saressa Coffee of Idaho, Raven-Nicole Coffee and Jacyne (Isaiah Parker) Bill, all of Rocky Boy, and Tara Jo (Jerod) Friday, Sr. of Wyoming; sons, Carter (Billie Jo), Brandon (Chiazza), and Bryson (Peyton) Coffee, all of Rocky Boy, and Mikeel and Berton Coffee, both of Idaho; over 30 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Providencia Stump of Rocky Boy; brothers, Aldo and Fredrick (Elaine) Coffee, and Delbert Stump, all of Rocky Boy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
