Barbara was born on July 26, 1949, in Crow Agency, Montana, to Starr Not Afraid Sr. and Deana Medicine Horse. She was raised in a loving
family and carried her culture and values with her throughout her life. She married Frank Bacon, and together they made their home in San
Diego, California. While in San Diego she pursued nursing school for 2 years. Barbara and Frank were proud parents to seven children, raising
their family with warmth and strong principles. Barbara was a dedicated educator. She earned her degree in Elementary Education from Northern Montana College and went on to complete her master's degree in educational leadership from Montana State University. She taught in Crow for 2 years before moving to Rocky Boy to make their forever home. She was employed at the Rocky Boy High Elementary
school as a teacher and later was the Vice-Principal for many years. Her employment includes being the assessment coordinator at Stone Child
College for 20 years before retiring in 2018. A devoted mother and grandmother, Barbara found great joy in watching
her children and grandchildren participate in sports and celebrated their accomplishments with pride. She loved all of her nieces and nephews supported them in whatever they needed support in. Barbara is survived by her children: son Terry Enemy Hunter; daughters Francine Bacon, Gayle Bacon, Trudi Bacon, and Stephanie Bacon (Jeff Henry) Amy Sloan and Marsha Whiting. She leaves behind many beloved grandchildren: Kyle and Jesse Laforge Corey Bear Claw, Natasha, Tahnayah Laforge, Maya, Randy, Baby Terry Enemy Hunter, Anferenee and Chanal Standing Rock, Aleeca Oats, Frankie Bacon Taylor Bacon, Laliah Small, Anthony, Barbara, John, Tia Gardipee, Curtis, Tai, Tyreece and Terrionna Molina, Julian, Jeff Jr., Stephen, and Frankie Henry. She had 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild she was very rich. She is also survived by her sisters: Francine Amyotte, Arvilla Fly (Tom), Paulette Not Afraid, Marilyn Not Afraid, and Valerie Dust (Tim); brothers: YoYo Not Afraid, Garland Not Afraid, Bruce White Sr. And Leslie Not Afraid Valerie Not Afraid. Barbara leaves behind 53 nieces and nephews from the Not Afraid family. Barbara was preceded in death by her daughters Deanna Enemy Hunter and Claudia Bacon; her sisters Diane (Andy) Not Afraid and Elizabeth White; her brother Starr "Dickie Man" Not Afraid Jr.; her father Starr Not Afraid Sr.; and her mother Deana Medicine Horse Not Afraid, Grandmother Rose Plenty Wood. Barbara will be remembered for her strength, compassion, commitment to education, and the love she gave her family and community. Her legacy lives on in all those she inspired and nurtured.
