Obituary

Arlyss Toldness, 73, of Havre, Montana, passed away quietly on Friday, November 14th, 2025, with her family by her side.

Arlyss was born April 8, 1952, in Great Falls, Montana.  Her parents Arletta & Tony McAllister preceded her in death, as well as her younger brother Arlen, Mother & Father-In-Law Bunny & Morris Toldness, and her nephew Chad Doney.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years Gary, son Jim, daughters Brooke & Julie, sister Annette, brother Tim, daughter-in-law Angela, grandchildren, Paige, Isabelle, London, Gray, and Tallulah, nieces & nephews, and so many other people who loved her dearly throughout her life.

She was so wise and knew so much about living life.  She was loved by many, under broad circumstances - she had friends from all walks of life; nationality, socioeconomic status, community affiliation, nothing defined you to her.  She just wanted to surround herself with people she enjoyed spending time with.

Arlyss spent her time with plenty of hobbies, she loved music and listened to many different genres and generations. Her crossword game was unrivaled by anyone around her.  She loved putting jigsaw puzzles together - there were years of our lives that the dining room table was partially or wholly dedicated to a jigsaw puzzle in the works. She was a super competitive game player - some of us are still averse to playing Monopoly because of the trauma incurred by her property management style.

She taught us all so much about living life - she had such a thirst for living and experiencing it.  She loved an amusement park and rode only the most terrifying of rides - she taught us how to look fear in the face and laugh.

She lived life to the fullest and tried everything.  We remember being embarrassed at a fancy restaurant in Canada because she was eating escargot and enjoyed every slurp to the greatest capacity.

She loved her children fiercely - she was never defined by society's rules and expectations of motherhood and gave them everything she could and had.

She loved the family cabin on Flathead Lake and would stay there for months at a time enjoying the peacefulness, friendships with neighbors, and the different pace of the lake life.  She was like this with camping as well - she loved to park her camper out in the Bear Paws for days/weeks on end.  Learning new games, playing old games, and maybe even taking some winning money home with her from some unsuspecting amateur gamblers.

She loved movies - of all kinds - Saturday nights were often spent watching Alfred Hitchcock, Tales from the Crypt, or Tales from the Darkside with her family.

Her whole hearted laugh, quick wit, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by so many of us.  We will forever feel the loss of such a beautiful spirit.

Please bring your memories to share with us at her Celebration of Life at Vic's NEW Place on Second Street (former Crawford's Distillery), Saturday afternoon at 4 pm.  (Please enter through the east side entrance.)
