Arlene G. Morgan, 84, of Havre, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. Cremation has taken place, and private family memorial services will be held at a later date. The family has requested that memorials be made in Arlene's name to the Havre Art Association c/o Becky Ross 8 Lila Drive Havre, Montana 59501. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Arlene was born on November 4, 1928, in Minot, North Dakota, to Elvin and Martha (Nicodemus) Hanson. Her family moved to Havre when she was young, and she was raised in Havre, attending school there, and graduating from Havre High School in 1946. In January of 1947, she married Leigh Morgan, the love of her life, in Havre, and the couple settled down, raising their children there. Arlene worked for the City of Havre as a bookkeeper, and for Devlin School, teaching 5th grade. Arlene was always very talented, and for a while, she also worked as a private art teacher, while painting her own works. Following her work as a 5th grade teacher, she was self-employed as an artist, creating lovely, life-like paintings. Arlene enjoyed gardening. She helped organize the Montana and Havre Associations for Retarded Children, and worked hard at publishing the state Association for Retarded Children newsletter for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband Leigh; her 7 year old daughter Kathleen; her parents Elvin and Martha Hanson; and her brother Kenneth Hanson. Arlene is survived by her daughter Barbara (Kent) Elliott of Boulder, MT; her sons, Thomas L. and John D. Morgan, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; her 6 grandchildren; her 5 great-grandchildren; and her sister Betty Seifert of Cut Bank, Montana.
