Bucky was born June 26, 1967 in Havre to Douglas and Pauline (Peyachew) Standing Rock. He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending high school there. Following graduation, Bucky attended Stone Child College for a semester, and attended Pow Wows for a while. He began seeing Latoya Spang in 2004, and the couple married in 2006. They had five children. Bucky worked at Rocky Boy Head Start and Chippewa Cree Housing. Most recently, he worked on his artwork and feather work.

Bucky enjoyed attending Pow Wows with his family and singing with his brothers and nephews in "Montana Cree". He was a perfectionist in his art and feather work. His nieces and nephews were cherished, and he gave them crazy nicknames including his grandson "Meet Treet". Bucky also gave himself a nickname … "Powerful White Buffalo". He never wasted time being sad. Always happy, he was known for teasing and making jokes of how powerful he was. He had many friends that were very fond of him, especially his classmates Virgil and Darrell. Friends have shared so many crazy memories with Bucky's huge family. He was a fine athlete, so much so that Coach Sun Child had the Stars charter bus drive all the way to Box Elder to pick him up for a football game against Choteau. He cherished his mother, too, but was never serious with her any more than he was with anyone else. No one could ever stay angry with him, and if we tried, he'd say "Ch, Kiyam". He really cared for his dad too. He called him "Lucas Skweeno", "Sqween", and "Choke." Bucky will be missed dearly, especially by our brothers, as they were so very close. He always tried to keep people's spirits up, and if he saw someone who seemed down, he tried to be the rainbow in their storm cloud and cheer them up. He was loved by everyone. We will miss you, Bucky.

He was preceded in death by his sons J'Shon, J'Donn and Spike Standing Rock; adopted brothers Peter Pretty on Top and Monte Stump; maternal grandparents Mary Rose Peyachew and Peter Benson Sr.; and paternal grandparents Joe and Florence (Denny) Standing Rock.

Bucky is survived by his wife Latoya "Olgs" Standing Rocky of Rocky Boy; daughters, Sashay, DiEtte, and Zephanie Standing Rocky; sons Gianni and Vinny Standing Rock; grandson Curtis Molina, Jr.; parents Doug and Pauline Standing Rock of Rocky Boy; sisters, Jolene, Paulette, and June; adopted sisters Autumn Wright and Shayne Hughes; brothers Doug Standing Rock, Jr., Kessly, Jesse, Dwight, and Terry; adopted brothers, Chris Shorty, Julius Not Afraid, and Travis Warren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
