Obituary

Anna D. Hofer, 68, passed away due to natural causes on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at her home. Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, and will continue until her funeral service, which will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, in the Hidden Valley Colony Church. Burial will follow in the Hidden Valley Colony Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Anna was born on March 21, 1955, in Choteau to David and Elizabeth (Wurtz) Hofer. She was raised there until the early 60s, when the family moved to Sage Creek Colony, and then to Hidden Valley Colony in 2018. She was the colony head cook for eleven years. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and knitting. She always had a smile for the children and loved sharing her goodies with them. Anna also really enjoyed her quiet time sitting alone in her room, reading the Scriptures and her father's old sermons.

Anna was diagnosed with dementia 17 years ago. Although she had an illness, it didn't keep her from doing what she loved. She was a very strong-willed person and lived her life with dignity. Anna never spoke an unkind word to anyone, and she will be greatly missed by all of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Elizabeth Hofer, and her sister Elizabeth Hofer.

Anna is survived by her two brothers, Peter (Ester) Hofer of Sage Creek Colony and Ben (Barbara) Hofer of Hidden Valley Colony; two sisters, Justina (John) Wurtz of Sage Creek Colony and Susie (Jonathan) Kleinsasser of Hidden Valley Colony; and eleven nieces and two nephews, whom she treated as though they were her children.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Bear Paw Hospice nurses for helping us care for Anna in the last eight months to keep her comfortable. We couldn't have done it without you. They would also like to thank her long-time family doctor, Timothy Blair, of Chester, who went out of his way to see her and made sure she had what she needed.
