Ann was born in Havre, Montana on July 26, 1964 to Louie and Angela Blackbird Denny. She completed her general education in Rocky Boy, graduating from Flandreau Indian School in 1982. After graduation, Ann attended Job Corps in Clearfield Utah completing her course in Culinary Arts. In 1984, Ann joined the US Army. She traveled through many countries with the army, including Greenland, Puerto Rico, and Germany while witnessing many cultures and events including the fall of the Berlin Wall while stationed at Checkpoint Charlie. Ann exited the Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey having earned the Army Good Conduct Metal in 1990. Ann soon returned to Montana residing in Great Falls, Frazier, Rocky Boy, and Billings.
In Billings, Ann decided to further her education and through many trials and tribulations graduated from MSU-Billings with her Masters in Social Work. Ann focused her career specializing in veterans and survivors of domestic violence while working at the Veteran's Outreach Program at MSU-Billings. Not satisfied with anything less than her best, Ann then served as Director of Social Services of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe, and then as Executive Director for the Great Plains Veteran's Center.
Ann met George Willis Buck while attending May Technical College, often riding the transit bus together. Together they raised their children in various households throughout Montana, never lacking for tenacity and love within many trials and tribulations.
In late 2020, Ann was diagnosed with cancer. Ann fought hard, never once lacking for effort and fighting spirit. She continued to work, help support her family, and be a mother all the way until her peaceful passing on her 58th Birthday in 2022.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Linda, Wilburta, and Betty Jo, brother Darell "Juggie" Denny, nephews Dani, Virgil " Slim" Buffalo, Cody Trottier, Delwayne Denny, and Bruce "Brewman", niece Angel Denny, granddaughter Naomi Day Child, grandson Robert Henry Stump. Ann is survived by her husband George Willis Buck, her two sons Daniel and Clayton, and daughter Shiloh.
Ann touched many lives with her good nature and passion for helping others however she could. Up until the very end, her only concern was for her family and friend's comfort. She will be sorely missed by all of us. Ann will take a piece of us with her, and we will all carry piece of her with us. Thank you for your prayers and support.
