Allison Raynae Brockie also known as Big Al, 47, of Hays MT began her journey to be with the ancestors and Creator in the afternoon of June 5th, 2025 at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, MT.
Allison was born at Fort Belknap Hospital on January 7th, 1978. Her mother is Fern Brockie and father is the late Morris "Mike" Brockie, Jr. Allison attended all her years of schooling at Hays- Lodgepole School in Hays, Montana. Her maternal grandparents are Margaret June Martin and the late Harold James Martin Sr. of Hays. Her paternal grandparents are the late JoAnn Brockie and the late Morris Micheal Brockie Sr., also of Hays.
Allison was a proud A'aniiih woman who carried the traditional name "Angry Woman". She was a family woman and always highlighted the importance of "family first". Growing up on the family ranch, Allison was taught how to tend and take care of cattle and horses. She was taught how to ride horses when she was young, this was to prepare her for ranch chores that needed to be done everyday. She was a hard worker and whatever she set her mind to, she would find a way to get there. Allison graduated High School in 1996. She attended Haskell Indian Nations University where she played college basketball, and met lifelong friends she considered family. She graduated from Aaniiih Nakoda College in 2006 with her sisters Tiffany and Curry. Formerly known as Fort Belknap College.
Allison was a proud mother of two daughters, Oh'Na'Gya and Kara. She became a Neewah in 2022 to Amiyah and again in 2024 to Kylo and Keyanu. She loved and embraced the Neewah life by taking the best care of her grandchildren. She was the most proud and
dedicated Neewah who loved her babies so much she always said "it feels like I gave birth to them!". Allison was a proud big sister of her 4 siblings that she loved dearly and took care of. She loved her parents and was most proud to be the daughter of Fern and Mike.
Her passions included taking care of her relatives, community building, she brought people together, science - specifically geology and rock collecting, drawing/sketching, basketball, babysitting kids in the community, and cleaning for elders. Proud to be a 'nerd', Allison was
a lifelong learner and was an encyclopaedia on all subjects. She believed in and encouraged education, Allison was a knowledge keeper for our family. She took time to learn family history, culture, language, and lived by traditional teachings passed on to her. She kept our
oral histories and traditions alive by being a great storyteller. Allison was also a woman of great faith, she was a believer of the Catholic church and our own native spiritual way of life. This great faith carried her throughout her life and guided her on her path. She had a deep and
profound respect for Indian way of life and was very connected and always grounded. She knew the importance of being a part of Mother Earth and being a good relative. Love was at the core of her being, she moved with intention. She was also a very proud dog mom and loved her baby 'Merica so much.
She will be dearly missed by her family and community. Her presence brought light to those around her. Encouraging others to be their very best was something she did effortlessly. Her sense of humour was hilarious, she loved to tease and laugh. She had a very positive
perspective on life, she believed the best in humanity. Her strength was built into the very foundation of who she was. This will teach us all to keep on going no matter what, enjoy life, and celebrate every day that is gifted to us.
