Obituary

Alice May Mapes, 74, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. At her request cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at Highland Cemetery. Alice was born January 22, 1942 in Esmond, North Dakota to John and Christine (Keller) Haugen. She was raised in Devil's Lake and moved to Havre with her mom and brother when she was nine years old. She attended schools in Havre. In 1959 she married Raymond Anderson and together they had five children. The couple later divorced and she married Dave Mapes in 1973 and he passed away seven years later.

Alice spent her years raising her children, and would occasionally work as a housekeeper in various hotels in Havre. She cared for her mother for twenty years until she passed. Alice enjoyed camping, cooking, being in the outdoors and riding her bike. She enjoyed her time with family, her coffee club and helping at the First Lutheran Church with the food. She loved all animals especially her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Mapes in 1980, her former Husband Raymond Anderson and her grandchildren: Thomas Anderson II and the IV.

Alice is survived by her children; Debbie (Brett) Smith of Spanish Fork, UT; Tom Anderson, Larry (Dorothy) Anderson all of Havre, Montana; Mark Anderson of Portland, OR and Kenny (Michelle Friede) Anderson of Havre, Montana. 10 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great - Great Grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
