Alice Faye "Apple" Brown, 89, a lifelong resident of Havre passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Northern Montana Care Center due to natural causes. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Ila McClenahan officiating; burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorials in Apple's name may be made to the Havre Food Bank, the North Central Senior Citizens Center or to the local charity of the donor's choice. Holland and Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Apple was born on September 8, 1928 in Havre to Henry and Dollie Mae (Ames) Golden. She was raised in Havre with her seven siblings and graduated from Havre High School in 1946. In Havre Apple Golden married Carl Brown on September 9, 1951 and the couple had two children, Lory and Kent.
Over the years Apple worked as a bookkeeper at the Valley Motors and most notably for 25 years as the "Cinnamon Roll Lady" at IGA. She could be found every Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. selling the rolls. In her spare time Apple volunteered for over 40 years at Northern Montana Hospital, she was honored for this work by the Governor of Montana at the Governor's Banquet. She also volunteered at the North Central Senior Center and was voted Senior of the Year. She enjoyed bowling and spending her summers at Six Mile Estate on Swan Lake and camping in Beaver Creek. Family was very important to Apple and she cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Havre and a member of TOPS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1983; parents; brothers, Bud, Blondie, Red, Ralph and Shorty Golden; sisters, Muggs Bendele and Betty Berlin; and great-grandson, Doc Henry.
Apple is survived by her children, Lory Rainey of Missoula and Kent Brown of Havre; step-daughter, Carline Standerfer of Upper Peninsula, MI; special daughter, Mary Kay Brown of Havre; grandchildren, Autumn (Cory) Dunning of Billings, Tahnee (Duane Mord) Brown of Havre and Amber Brown of Havre; 3 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Golden of Havre; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
