Albert "Allen" Bacon, Jr., "Red Lightning", 69, passed away due to natural causes on Monday, June 19, 2023, in Dickinson, ND. Wake services will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, and will continue until his traditional funeral service, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Warrior's Burial Grounds. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Allen was born on October 8, 1953, in Helena to Albert and Alice (Daychild) Bacon. He was raised in Helena, Denver, CO, Rocky Boy, and Mandaree, ND. Following his school years, Allen entered the US Marine Corps and served until his honorable discharge in 1976. He attended United Tribes College, receiving his certificate in auto mechanics, and then Bismarck Junior College, from which he received a certificate in carpentry. His final certificate was obtained from Hennepin, where he majored in architectural drafting. In 1986, Allen married Micheala Lincoln, and the couple had four children before later divorcing. He worked as a carpenter and a truck driver for most of his adult life, and he was adopted into the Cigcii Clan in North Dakota by Julia White Eagle.
Allen was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his kids, but time with his grandchildren was treasured.
He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Bacon; stepdaughter, Leigh Brown Eyes; parents, Albert Bacon and Alice (Daychild) Yellow Wolf; brothers, Frank Bacon and Manuel Bacon; and sister, Gail Bacon Burbank.
Allen is survived by his children, Adam (Emily Lonedog) Bacon of Box Elder, Alana (Tony) Starr of Mandaree, ND, and Patrick (Jesse) Bacon of New Town, ND; 18 grandchildren; former wife, Micheala Bacon of Minot, ND; brother, Henry Day Child, Sr. of Rocky Boy; sisters, April Fox, Aurora Colorado, and Janet Bacon, all of Rocky Boy, and Emily (Chad) Connor of Mandan, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
