Agnes Theresa
Mcmaster
September 23, 1931 – February 15, 2016
Agnes Theresa (Roles) McMaster, 84, of Chinook, Montana went to be with the Lord on February 15th, 2016.
Agnes was born on September 23, 1931 in Glenburn, North Dakota to John and Anna Roles. She graduated high school from Towner, North Dakota and shortly afterwards she met the love of her life, John McMaster. She and John married on August 23, 1950 in North Dakota and then moved to Havre, MT in 1954 then settled in Chinook in 1958 where they raised their ten children.
Throughout Agnes' long, happy life, her hobbies included cooking and teaching her grandchildren how to cook, gardening, canning, jigsaw puzzles, and reading. But the absolute joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and hosting Sunday family dinners at her home was aspecial time for her. Agnes had a heart of gold. She weathered loss and heartache, dried our tears, and supported each of us throughout our lives. She raised her 10 children, and then still had enough love left over for each and every grandchild and great-grandchild. If the old saying "Agnes is never truly dead until no one thinks of her anymore" is true, she will live forever in our hearts.
Agnes is survived by her four daughters, Judy (Russ) Rhinehart of Billings, Pauly (Perry) Miller of Chinook, Marge (Greg) Cosmutto of Winneconne, WI, and Susan (Dave) Armstrong of Havre; four sons, Ed (Thelma) McMaster, Merle McMaster, Dave (Brenda) McMaster, and Mike (Ronda) McMaster, all of Chinook; 39 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Hiar, and Theresa Holloway, both from California, and Mary AnnBaldridge of Texas; her sister-in-law Isabel Bozeman of Fort Shaw, MT; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McMaster; two sons, Bill and Pat McMaster; and six brothers, Edward, Jim, Tony, Lou, George, and Elgar Roles.
A vigil will be on Sunday, February 21st, at 7 p.m., funeral services will be held Monday, February 22nd, at 11 a.m., both at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, and a burial will take place after the services at Kuper Memorial Cemetery, all in Chinook. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, the Spina Bifida Association, and St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.
